I’m a big believer in RAID, so it’s no surprise I chose RAID 1 for Mac OS and RAID 6 for my other stuff. This is a great resource for anyone wanting to build a Hackintosh. This set of parts were chosen after more than a month of painstaking research, a lot of it on the forums at. 2 Port USB 3.0 A Female Slot Plate Adapter HDE 2-Port USB Rear Panel Bracket Host Adapter

Here’s the tale of that journey. I purchased the parts, built the computer and installed Mac OS 10.9 on it. The log in transition in isn't exactly smooth either, but booting, sleep, restart, and shutdown have been very consistent and I haven't had any problems yet.ĮDIT: Does anyone think my Heaven 4.OK, so I wrote about wanting a Mac Pro but not being able to afford one. The display goes black for a second then when the login screen appears, the load bar from the prior screen lingers in the lower left corner for like a second before fading out. Also this is purely cosmetic and me being OCD, but the transition between the white Apple load screen to the login screen is kinda rough. Everything is 100% working! I should mention that my system froze once at the multibeast install screen, but worked fine after rebooting. I'd be interested to know if enabling the audio controller actually did anything in case someone wants try the 7.0 kext.Īnd thats it! Super easy install with the right bios settings. I repaired permissions and rebooted in between the different Multibeast installs but that might not be necessary. Make sure not to install the audio kext from 7.0.1 but the ALC898 from Multibeast 6.1.0 instead. No audio or ethernet on first boot but my graphics card and wireless card worked OOB. Second time went flawlessly into setup for some reason. Be aware though that the first time I tried to reboot I got stuck on a white screen. No flags were needed to boot into the new installation using the usb drive either. When done properly I didn't have to use ANY flags. Not sure if its the kext or the bios setting that fixed the issue. Haven't had any issues with sleep killing audio since. This time I set the audio controller from auto to enabled in the bios, but I also used the Multibeast 6.1.0 ALC898 kext instead. In my original post, I would loose audio after sleep using the ALC898 kext from Multibeast 7.0.1. When I tried installing Yosemite the first time I didn't do this and could only boot with -v.

This guide was done with a 660 ti but I'm sure the 650 will work just as well because both cards are 6xx Kepler and I did a successful boot without flags into the install drive with the 650 but didn't do a full install.ĭisable internal graphics.

Side note on the graphics card: Originally I tried this board with a GTX 650 and I couldn't get a solid build because I just put the bios in optimized defaults and disabled virtualization without thinking about the internal graphics at all. GPU: Nvidia Branded GTX 660 ti (Reference Card) I couldn't find much on this board and I've been lurking on tonymac since snow leopard so I figured it was time I contributed something, however minimal it is. The easiest way to know what works and what doesn't is to look at other people's builds. I posted this build a couple weeks ago but since you can't bump threads on reddit I had to make another one.
